What Is Manga? Manhwa? Manhua?

Manga refers to Japanese comics, typically read right-to-left in black and white. Popular genres include action, romance, shonen, and seinen. Manhwa are South Korean comics, usually in full color and read left-to-right — the webtoon format. Manhua are Chinese comics, also often in color, spanning wuxia, xianxia, and cultivation genres. WholeManga covers all three.

Data Sources

WholeManga aggregates content metadata from publicly available indexing services. We do not host manga files directly — all chapter images are served from their respective CDN providers. Our platform functions as a reader interface and index, similar to how a search engine indexes and links to external content.

Technology

WholeManga is built with Next.js 15, React 19, Tailwind CSS, and Supabase. The platform is optimized for Core Web Vitals with fast image loading, server-side rendering, and progressive enhancement for all device sizes.
